Shadelands Ranch Historical Museum was originally the home of early Walnut Creek resident Hiram Penniman and is the home base of the Walnut Creek Historical Society. The Walnut Creek Model Railroad Society (WCMRS) offers an impressive permanent model train display that is comprised of 4,300 feet of laid track and 175,000 individual train ties that cover more than 1,800 square feet of space. The model railroad at the Walnut Creek Model Railroad Society rises to 10 feet above the lowest track level and ranks among the largest exclusively HO scale railroad lines on display in America. It requires about 45 minutes for the train to circle the track just one time along the sprawling train track course.
